HOW A MYSTERY JACKPOT WORKS

A mystery jackpot works by choosing a value between a minimum and maximum dollar amount. Let’s say the minimum is $100.00 and the Maximum is $200.00, the jackpot controller chooses $168.79 and hides this number. The mystery jackpot return to player percentage consists of a startup percentage to cover the startup amount of $100.00, and an increment percentage that is used to increment the jackpot pool starting at $100.00.

For example: the increment percentage is 1%, then 1% of the turnover played on each EGM is added to the jackpot pool. If a player plays $1.00, then 0.01c is added to the jackpot pool. This continues until the jackpot controller receives the increment from an EGM to cause the jackpot pool to reach the hidden jackpot amount ($168.79) and that EGM is then awarded the hidden jackpot amount. Once the jackpot has been awarded, the jackpot pool is reset back to the minimum, and a new jackpot value is chosen and then hidden.

Mystery Jackpots – Tax Deductible (did you know?)

In NSW any approved mystery jackpot arrangement is able to be deducted from gaming tax payable. This makes mystery jackpots a very good choice when selecting a marketing tool that rewards players and provides a consistent return to player percentage. Players can be rewarded with cash, whereas promotions and bonuses cannot reward the players with cash – they must all be points or prizes. The points or prizes given away to players as rewards cannot be deducted from gaming tax.
